ATL Technology is looking for an experienced and energetic candidate to fill our Support Engineering Manager role. The ideal candidate would be a key contributor in the development and execution of the support engineering team to meet the global organizational objectives. To be successful the candidate would be able to demonstrate and provide effective management of a support engineering team as well as collaborating with other engineering managers.

  • Travel both domestically and internationally as assigned (could be up to 50% of time)

 Personnel Management: 

  • Responsible for inspiring, mentoring and building a high performance, functional Support Engineering Team
  • Develop & maintain process & procedures for the Support Engineering team
  • Develop KPIs and reporting for Support Engineering
  • Develop & maintain resource management methods to ensure proper loading of the team with various work requests coming from either project load, customer change requests or internal requests
  • Provide talent management for PMO team including but not limited to:
    • Annual evaluations
    • Bi-Annual Goal Alignment to Corporate objectives
    • Competency mentoring

 Support Engineering Management: 

  • Lead & manage the Support Engineering organization in providing service such as:
    • Detailed Drawings
    • Product Testing
    • Prototyping
    • Fixture Design
    • Automation Design
    • Change Management
  • Oversees sustaining projects life cycle: Initiate, Plan, Execute & Close such as:
    • Retooling Efforts
    • Customer Change Orders (Logos, Cable Length Change, Material Changes, etc.)
    • Manufacturing Transfers (Site A to Site B)
  • Coordinate and develop project proposals for Support Engineering Efforts
  • Capture & maintain project ROI metrics
  • Responsible for the task loading, accuracy & timely delivery of the Support Engineering functions covering areas such as, but not limited to:
    • Change Orders
    • Prototype Requests
    • Testing
    • Drawing Creating
    • Process Validation
    • Fixture Design & Validation
    • Automation Design & Validation
    • NCMRs
  • Lead/mentor Support Engineering team in developing their skills to meet the core functions of the organization
  • Ensures deliverables are properly reviewed and ready prior to providing them to internal or external customers
  • Responsible for scope management, coordinating team member work, identifying potential risk and managing risk (technical and business)
  • Responsible for constructively escalating issues when necessary
  • Responsible for the Change Management & Implementation Review Board functions for the organization and has the prime responsibility to ensure the customer has a continued perception of ATL's excellence in capabilities and products
  • Coordinate & manage customer deliverables review & approvals with issue management tracking
  • Interface with customers to investigate issues, report on status and results of investigations and corrective actions, logistics of correction activities
  • Produce, review, and present product documentation including drawings, proposals, and technical reports and analysis
  • Provide support for quality control initiatives both in the US and at other global facilities
  • Works with factory engineers on assigned projects, with frequent off-hour communication
  • Is an active participant in customer sales activities
  • Actively engage in personnel and project conflict resolution

 The ideal candidate would have the following experience and education already set in place.

  • BSME, BS Physics or similar technical degree, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 6 years in a leadership role in a R&D or design environment with significant exposure to design of thin-walled plastic injection molded parts, cable design, medical device design, or electrical/electronic connector systems development
  • Strong writing skills creating documentation as mandated by ISO 13485, FDA or similar regulations where intimate knowledge of the regulation or standard is required
  • Demonstrable team-leadership experience in product development, manufacturing processes, and development of electrical and mechanical devices; performance of new technology research; creation of product documentation, product testing protocols, and test reporting.
  • Experience leading troubleshooting and resolution of production issues
  • Ability to create and oversee the performance of electrical/mechanical test schemes and devices, experience with automated and manual methods of manufacturing and assembly processes, and troubleshooting of same
  • Extensive background in design for manufacture, quality processes, and documentation of highly regulated (medical or similar) products
  • Experience transitioning/supporting off-shore manufacturing
  • Experience leading teams, conducting and documenting design reviews, troubleshooting, failure analysis and risk analysis activities
  • Significant experience computing tolerance stacks of various materials and systems
  • Ability to obtain a passport and travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Willingness to participate in frequent off-hour discussions with company engineers based in China to ensure collaboration of design and manufacturing activities
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in 3D Modeling with SolidWorks
